Individual Therapy

In addition to treating specific mood, anxiety and personality disorders (see other treatment pages) at our Aarhus Psychology office, we often work with clients who struggle with being stuck in their lives, feeling like they are not good enough, or not quite understanding why they are feeling disconnected or unfulfilled.

Such difficulties often include one or more of the following:

  • Low self-esteem or self-worth
  • Motivational concerns, procrastination, feeling stuck
  • Fears, avoidance, disconnection
  • Uncontrolled emotional reactions including anger or crying
  • Relationship difficulties, loneliness
  • Existential issues (such as life purpose, search for meaning, happiness.

In Therapy

In psychotherapy you can find new and useful ways of thinking, both about your self and about your surroundings. Changing some of these automatic ways of thinking and feeling requires insight and self-understanding, which is best achieved in the therapeutic relationship with a skilled psychologist.

First Steps

First steps in therapy include helping you describe your concerns, history and potential causes. We then identify what positive change might be, and how you would like to be in the future. It is important to any therapy that you and your psychologist clearly collaborate around describing your difficulties and potential solutions. It is similarly important that the treatment methods are described by your psychologist. Transparency is often one of the keys to a really productive relationship with your psychologist.
